Okay, lots and LOTS has already been written about the DoJ press release yesterday, “Retail Hacking Ring Charged for Stealing and Distributing Credit and Debit Card Numbers from Major U.S. Retailers: More Than 40 Million Credit and Debit Card Numbers Stolen.
But, I still want to put a few thoughts out about this…

Just Because Security Is Simple Doesn’t Mean People Will Do It

More Wifi Security At Home Than At Work?

Last week I posted about how, while driving my sons into town for Noah to attend band camp, they found 100+ wifi hotspots, and only 12 of them were secured according to their macbook lock icons.
This was in a primarily business area, with lots of small to medium sized businesses along the road, strip mall type of shops, and a large shopping mall.

100+ Hot Spots During A Short Drive Around Town

Last Friday my 8-year-old son and I looked for a wifi hotspot to work from while my 11-year-old son was at band camp for the day (I didn’t want to waste gas by driving all the 25+ miles back home, and then driving into town again to pick him up at the end of the day). We discovered the IHOP close by actually has free wireless access…I did not know that! So, we had lunch there and I did work while we ate.

I just read an interesting Business Week story, “Just Ahead: A Wider Wireless World.”
In February, 2009 analog television broadcasting will be terminated.
